Models like Cara Delevigne and socialites like Kim Kardashiam have paved the way for eyebrows to become the protagonists of all the covers this season. However, the desire to get perfect eyebrows is nothing new among women, as Cleopatra used a black Khol eyeliner to paint long, thin eyebrows. But we do not recommend you to follow the fashion of a few decades ago to remove the eyebrows completely permanently.

It may be that you are bothered by the hairs that protrude above the eyebrow, or that you want it to look more stuffed, or maybe it is so little visible that you want to highlight it… whatever the reasons that lead you to fix your eyebrows you have many techniques and means to do so.

Perfectly marked eyebrows, abundant, with color that matches your skin type and hair and according to your face shape will help you define the expression of your look and accentuate it. But how do you have to shave your eyebrows so that they are perfect? Today we show you all the steps you need to follow to shave your eyebrows correctly.

1 Choose the type of eyebrow according to your face shape

1 Choose the type of eyebrow according to your face shape

Choosing the type of eyebrow according to your face shape is essential so that they look flattering and not put on the face by chance. Here are the main keys:

  • Elongated and rectangular faces. The natural morphology of this face presents angles that need to be smoothed. To do this you do not have to add more angles, such as a triangular eyebrow, but opt for straight eyebrows, a little thin in the middle and somewhat curved at the end to reduce the length of the face.
  • Round and square faces. To that type of faces happens just the opposite of the previous ones, they need a type of eyebrows that lengthens the face and softens so many curves and squares. To do this you have to avoid straight and very curved eyebrows, and choose to add angles and arches that raise the eyebrow and clear the eye.
  • Heart-shaped and diamond-shaped faces. They need eyebrows rather arched than angular since otherwise the chin would stand out even more. Make sure that the end of the eyebrow does not have much fall since it does not favor much if you have this type of face.

Note: the type of eyes you have will influence whether you have to leave more or less space between them and the eyebrows. For example, wide eyebrows will hide bulging eyes, while if you have them small it is best to increase the distance with the eyebrow to the maximum.

2 Define the eyebrow

2 Define the eyebrow

Defining the eyebrow to be able to shave it correctly can be done in several ways, we are going to propose two of them that seem the most comfortable and that can be done pefectamente at home.

Template. You can find eyebrow templates in stores like Sephora. It is placed on the eyebrow holding it firmly and the inside is filled with a cream with color or with a pencil in its absence trying to mark well. It is removed and the excess hairs are removed with tweezers. Four models of templates for different types of faces usually come.

By hand. If you prefer not to use the template and do it by hand you will first have to mark the proportions. Take a pen and measure the distance between the nose and the beginning of the eye (here you should start plucking the eyebrow), between the nose, the iris and the center of the eyebrow (so you will know the highest point) and between the nose and the end of the eyebrow (this is where it will end).

3 Wax and color

3 Wax and color

The next step once you have decided on the type of eyebrows and have defined them is to get rid of the leftover hairs around the frame of the eyebrow and fill with colored ointment if necessary. You have to know that your eyebrows always have to be slightly darker than your hair if it is light, and vice versa if it is dark.

You will also have to choose the method to depilate. The most employed are:

  • Wax. There are products to apply wax accurately in this area such as Veet eyebrow wax pencil.
  • Thread. Used for centuries by women allows to remove hairs one by one.
  • Pincers. Some come with built-in light and even a mirror.
  • Blade. Buy one that clearly indicates that it is designed to shave this delicate area.
  • Depilatory cream. Apply very carefully because in case of passing you run the risk of running out of eyebrows.

Passes to pluck the eyebrows

  • Desensitize the area with a little anesthetic gel and also apply a little cream.
  • After highlighting the area and having it ready, depilate the excess hairs with the chosen method. Stretch the skin with your hand around your eyebrows to feel less pain. Hold the hair and give a quick pull to start it the first time since otherwise you will get redness and stains.
  • First of all, depilate the lower part of the eyebrows starting from the tear and moving outwards. Then do the same with the top; this part is usually somewhat problematic so if you need it do not hesitate to ask for help. Check if there have been hairs left and do not forget the eyebrows.
  • After finishing waxing, give yourself a little more cream or talcum powder that will leave your eyebrows perfect.
  • Now that you have perfectly shaved eyebrows you can see if you need to fill any space with color. Choose a pencil or ointment of the right color and start filling with small touches; let it dry if necessary. Another option is to apply permanent micropigmentation of eyebrows.
  • The last step is to brush your eyebrows so they don’t look rowdy and apply some gel fixative or lacquer.
